Josiah was born 18 December 1664 in Rehoboth Massachusetts to William and Mirial Searles-Carpenter. His siblings were Nathaniel, Daniel, Noah, MIriam, Obediah, Ephraim, Hannah and Abigail. His father had been married previously and so Josiah had severeal older hal-siblings: John, William Priscilla and Benjamin.
Josiah married Elizabeth Read 24 May 1692. It is not known whether they had any children.
